Beautiful vintage 1930s ceremonial Japanese Uchikake wedding kimono with long sleeves and padded hem featuring absolutely gorgeous embroidery! Made of a cream hued silk damask with a leaf pattern over which individual picturesque scenes are embroidered in metallic gold & silver, pink, blue and green silk threads in a padded satin stitch. I haven't seen another pastel Uchikake like this one - the pinks and blue hues are absolutely breathtaking against the metallic gold and silver. The images depict cranes for good fortune and longevity and bamboo for resilience along with blooming peonies and flowers, flowering urns, swirling waves and Japanese trees.
The Uchikake is a ceremonial robe which would have been worn by a bride in a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. The Uchikake would have been worn over another garment, hence no sash. This gorgeous example is fully lined with red silk and has a defined rolled padded hem.
Looks amazing displayed and can definitely be worn!
