Gorgeous antique 1890s black silk and lace bodice with amazing puffed leg-of-mutton sleeves! The silk bodice is completely covered with floral lace with exception of the moire silk taffeta V collar neckline. Ruffled lace trims the neckline and down the front of bodice in a subtle diagonal cross-over. The gathered puffed sleeves have their own lace flounced tier underneath with ruffling at the hem along with scalloped Chantilly lace trim underneath that peaks through. The backside has large gathers that culminate into a much narrower visage down the back V point. The bodice is lined with glazed cotton and closes with hook and eyes down the center front with one hook/eye closure at the left side cross-over. The collar neckline is partially attached on the right side and closes with two hook and eyes at back nape. All inner seams of bodice with exception of two seams at each side have covered boning. Please note: it appears as if there was boning in these two seams originally as the boning 'sheaths'' remain.
Content: Silk, floral lace, Chantilly lace, glazed cotton, moire silk taffeta
Please note: the backside image I was unable to close the two hook/eyes of collar by myself as I didn't have any one assisting me.
Best Fit: XS
Front Length: 17 1/2"
Back Length: 19"
Shoulder Width: 12"
Sleeve Length: Approx. 23 1/2"
Condition: Very Good /Ready for Wear with Care!
I combed this bodice and found 10 small tears to the floral lace - these will NEVER be noticed unless you are examining inch by inch, however, care is needed when handling and wearing to not aggravate these areas. Some of the hooks and eyes are replacements.
