Very unique 2pc vintage 1920s 1930s tiered velvet dress and sleeveless top ornamented with scalloped golden bronze metallic lace! Made of rich brown cotton velvet with a fiery sheen when the light hits it just right. The design is pretty cool and some of the construction employs earlier techniques.
The dress is designed with a very thin silk bodice connected to velvet shoulders and long sleeves that have bell shaped hems trimmed in light brown silk chiffon with the scalloped metallic lace. The silk bodice
closes down the center with 5 hook and eyes to the inner grosgrain waistband. Three snaps on the left side of waistband attach the left side velvet skirt. A hook/eye closure secures the skirt at side waist and for dressing ease the upper left side of first skirt tier has 3 snap closures. Crepe back satin lines the dress under the top two skirt tiers.
The sleeveless top features a 6 tiered scalloped metallic lace trim collar, side ruching, elongated waist and a large metallic lace 'corsage' accenting the bottom left side with a reddish purple rose center, spun gold wire bow and metallic trim ribbon. The top closes down the entire left side with snaps.

Silk lining metallic lace trim has some tears (9th pic collage). Silk straps underneath velvet shoulder area has some tearing and upper back trim is visible at sides of velvet (see last image). The silk bodice has some yellow spotting/stains. Ghost stitches above waist of dress. There is a small silk allowance folded into where grosgrain is stitched to silk - possibly done for added strength. You can also see here that the velvet tier starts a tad below showing off the crepe back satin lining. Minor wear spot to velvet at left shoulder.
Due to tears to silk straps underneath the velvet portion of shoulders, I recommend storing this dress folded and not on a hanger.
