1900s Victorian Edwardian Mixed Lace Gibson Girl Bodice with Metallic Bullion Appliqués, Larger Size Antique Blouse 40 Bust 32 Waist

Absolutely enchanting early 1900s turn of the century mixed lace Victorian Edwardian Gibson Girl bodice! She's incredibly romantic and details abound ~ please enlarge photos as my words will not do her justice. Made of a combination of creamy vanilla mixed lace and black floral net lace with what appears to something similar to Japanese characters lined with fine and soft net backing. The placement of the different laces is perfection. Black and pink hand embroidery as well as bright pink / magenta pink silk ribbon accent the neckline, bodice and sleeves with larger ribbon bands accenting the interior front sides of pouched waist. Ornate bronzed metallic appliqués with I believe are made of bullion threads embellish the shoulders over top the silk ribbon. The lace collar has scalloped steel collar stays to keep shape with a lightly gathered lace frill on the back. Most of the bodice is lined with cotton and there is covered boning at the inner seams. Hook and eye closures down interior cotton bust and down center of outer lace. No labels, but whoever designed her definitely had experience and vision. A remarkable piece of historical textile art - she's in very good condition and can definitely be worn!

As shown in last image close-up, the split bottom hemline is not original to the bodice. If you look closely you can see for some reason sapphire blue stitches were used as well. I am going to leave as-is for the buyer to decide whether to keep or have removed or replaced.

1 darn, seam line created on left side black lace to close prior opening to lace and a couple small holes to net lining (see 8th pic collage). Inner ribbon embellishment on left side waist is not connected at bottom and has some gathering (9th pic). Last image shows close-up of hemline that was added at a later time. Some yellowing to underarms - cannot see when wearing and light soil to cotton lining.
