Antique 1900s Dress, Edwardian Gibson Girl Dress, Turn of the Century Net Wedding Dress, Small 27" Waist

Sorry, this item has sold.

Antique turn of the century late 1890s to early 1900s creamy beige Gibson Girl dress set made of silk lined structured net featuring appliqués of lace.

Possibly worn as a wedding dress, the skirt is designed with vertical pin tucks extending from the waistband nearly touching the hem in sunburst rays. The sweeping skirt has a floor length front with a cascading elongated back train. The skirt is fully lined with a silk under skirt attached only at waistband with a tiered flounced hem. The waistband one hook/eye closure with eyes along sides that the back of bodice hooks onto.

The bodice has a lace trim high collar neckline with three hook/eye closures at nape. Vertical pin tucks extend from the shoulders of front and back bodice and is also seen on the sleeves and in diamond shaped lace trim accents. Pouched pigeon breast front with gathered nipped waistband. The front bodice has double silk taffeta lining. The interior silk lining is fitted and boned at every seam and closes with hooks/eyes down center. The second layer of silk lining is pouched and has hooks on the left side bodice which close onto outer fabric loops on left side of net outer bodice. There are also four hooks at upper left shoulder that close onto fabric loops at the shoulder seam.

Biggest issue is the silk lining the bodice has shattered especially at underarms, top left bodice/shoulder area. I am leaving as-is as I don't want to remove in case someone wants to replicate the lining. You can still close all hook/loops.

Other things to note: a few areas of darkened lace (most notable on bodice), light discoloration at underarms, scattering of small holes & minor cuts to lace connectors & light soil at skirt hem.

I do think the stains can be lightened considerably, however, without totally removing the silk lining, I did not want to attempt cleaning the bodice in order to preserve for replication of lining.

Please email for additional images or enlarge images for best detail. Presents beautifully regardless of her flaws.

Enjoy!
