Hold 1870s Victorian Plaid Walking Dress, 19th Century Antique Women's Sportswear, 1800s Tartan Plaid Victorian Jacket and Skirt

Outstanding antique tartan plaid Victorian walking dress / sportswear dress believed to be from the mid 1870s with the most magnificent tailored jacket featuring five bow accents placed one above each other down the center back! The jacket is truly incredible alternating between army green and tartan plaid with a trimmed collar, fantastic long sleeves with ruffled pleat detailing at hems, nine button down closures, nipped waistline and that sought after hourglass silhouette that flares out from the waist ending in a curved front and elongated V'd center back point. The jacket is fully lined with thin glazed cotton for the sleeves, however, the body is lined with sateen. Inside the jacket, there are double seams on each side near the center opening - the first seams no longer have boning, however, the second seams have remnants of boning. The side and back seams do not have boning. As you can see in the 8th image, a black panel with buttons was added onto the end of the left side opening in order to accommodate a larger size. This can be removed or left as-is. Inner waistband placket with hook and eyes - right side needs to be re-stitched down.

The floor length Victorian skirt is believed to have been re-worked in the style of the 1890s due to the mis-matched bias seam at center front indicating it was restyled. The floor length skirt is designed with a gathered pleated double tartan hem with hem protector, lots of back gathers for an amazing sweep and closes with two button/ loops at the side waistband. The skirt is fully lined with glazed cotton. The waistband itself appears to be an addition - I'm wondering if the original waistband was army green to correspond with the bodice jacket. Content: Tartan Plaid - resembling Royal Stewart tartan - slightly coarse but doesn't feel like traditional wool and is thinner than wool, glazed cotton, sateen, linen possibly mercerized

Bust: 34-35" (I recommend 34" or less to not stress the fabric)
Waist: 26" (6 1/2" from underarm)

Back Length: Approx. 23 1/2"
Shoulder Width: Approx. 15 3/4"
Sleeve Length: 20 3/4"

Condition: Good to Good+ / Quite Amazing for it's Age / Can be worn with care

Jacket Condition: Two darns at 5th loop closure & stitched seam created between 4-6 buttons on adjacent side. Fabric wear at underarms. Minor tiny cuts/holes & darkened spot on upper back neck area. Missing boning to inner seams. Addition of black bust panel.

Skirt: Square hole on back along with tiny minor holes throughout.

Presents beautifully! She can be worn, but as with all antique garments in order to preserve the condition, please wear and store with care.
