Antique Victorian Ball Gown, 1898 Beaded Silk Velvet Lace Victorian Gown Long Train Ornamental Metallic Bullion Trim, 1800s Reception Dress

Absolutely breathtaking Victorian reception gown, circa 1898, featuring the most gorgeous light sage green silk velvet heavily embellished with antique metallic bronzed bullion, bronzed sequins, faux pearls and prong-set rhinestones fashioned in the most ornamental designs! Add in antique cutwork lace and net lace insets and you achieve the most tantalizing effect!

This Victorian gown is made up of three pieces: a heavily embellished silk velvet and lace bodice, a silk moiré skirt and a fully detachable train.

The ornamental Victorian bodice is styled with short puffed sleeves with net lace trim and a slight gather towards center waist. A silk ribbon accents the center back. The bodice closes up the center back with 1 modern snap and modern eyes and hooks along with a drawstring tie that was interwoven through the underlining. The bodice lining has been completely replaced, however, the original bones are still intact. The drawstring was also an addition from the original.

The skirt is a reproduction, not original, due to completely shattered silk from the original. However it's made of high quality silk moiré in creamy beige panels styled with gathers at the backside and an elongated back length. Fully lined, however, for some reason the waistband was not finished leaving a less than desirable band. Modern eye and hooks closures on the backside, including loops for the train to hook onto.

Along with the bodice, the train, is the pièce de résistance! The antique cream lace trim is divine with cutouts giving you a peek of the silk moiré lining underneath. The train also features net lace and ornamental designs that appear to be hearts along with more bullion, more beadwork, more prong-set rhinestones and moire sequins! The silk moiré lining again is not original.

CONDITION: Extremely good, however, not all original due to replacement of linings and reproduction of skirt. Most notable issue - an area of discoloration on the velvet train. It's small in scope, but please do email for additional photos. There are some minor holes / cuts throughout the lace and net lace, however, it doesn't affect the structural integrity of the gown. A couple minor areas of discoloration as well.

Due to the replacement of the lining, the gown can be worn along with the train, however, as with all antique garments please still wear with care as most of the materials on this gown are over 100 years of age.
