Museum quality original vintage 1920s burnout silk velvet dress in a dreamy jewel-toned palette! The sleeveless bodice is cut in a relaxed straight silhouette with a soft V-neckline and low hip seam that gives it that iconic drop-waist flapper shape. The burnout velvet—sometimes called devoré—is especially striking: a luminous design in raspberry-plum, olive, and soft golden ochre against a dark navy ground. I adore the Art Deco motif that dances across the fabric. The skirt is fashioned from a coordinating plush silk velvet in a rich plum hue, with soft pleats and covered button accents. No closures - you’ll need to be able to pull this on over your head.

This is such a wearable piece of 1920s history!

Condition: Museum Quality / Near Excellent / Wearable Condition!
The dress does appear to have been taken in at a center back seam as there's an interior allowance here. Whomever did the alteration matched up the burnout design very well.
The V neckline also appears to have been altered as there are interior flaps that are folded under and hand stitched down.
