Beautiful antique 1900s sheer dainty floral print cotton 2pc dress set including a ruffled floral length skirt and Gibson Girl bodice! The fabric is divine and super lightweight with a starchy quality similar to organdy featuring a dainty floral print amongst criss-crossing stripes in dark and pale pinkish purple and pale green along with pale squares. Very romantic and feminine - this set can be worn with care due to the fragile nature of the sheer cotton material.
The sweeping skirt has a defined nipped waistband and dainty lace trimmed ruffles that extend all the way down from the upper back sides of waist where they curve around to the front hem in the first gathered ruffled tier. Another gathered tier trims the skirt hem. The front hem would hit most likely around the lower calf or ankle with an elongated floor length back hem. The skirt closes with a center back etched Mother of Pearl button.
The blouse is styled with a short collared neckline and a tiered, ruffled & ruched detail at the center front. There are two hook/eye closures located on the outer sheer blouse - one at neckline and one at the bottom ruched ruffled tier. The long sleeves feature lace trimmed ruffled gathered shoulder caps and pin tucks down the length of the sleeve until the gathered lace trim sleeve flared hem. The backside has pleats and lace trim tuck seams down the center. The blouse has a partially finished pale lavender cotton interior lining that is sewn into the back and side seams of the blouse. The front portion however has been cut with a raw bust edge - I'm thinking the lining would have come up to the neckline before. I added two modern snap closures to at least close the top portion of interior lining. I will leave any final re-finishing to the buyer.
Pictured with an antique cotton petticoat underneath - not included in sale.
Best Fit: XS* Please see both skirt and blouse measurements.
Skirt Measurements
*Waist: 23 1/2"
Hip: Free
Front Length: 41 1/4"
Back Length: 44 1/4"
*The skirt waist has been altered smaller as there is approx. a 1" waist seam that was created. However, the top of interior seam allowance seam has split at center and portions of the seam allowance have more wear further down the skirt. You could get at least 1/2" here if you undid part of that seam.

Length: 19 - 20" (raw hem)
Shoulder Width: 12 3/4"

Condition: Good.
Blouse: hand stitched darn with antique cotton backing at upper back/neck area. Tiny darn at upper left shoulder. Prior opening at left seam of sleeve has now been hand stitched closed. Some light discolorations to lower CF near hem (last pic). Altered / unfinished interior lining.
Skirt: Some areas of wear with small tears / holes (most notable shown). A couple faint spots that you have to search for.
Enjoy!
