1880s Victorian Sienna Brown Velvet Bustle Dress, Antique Velvet Bodice Jacket and Bustle Skirt, XS

Striking antique Victorian Sienna brown velvet skirt and bodice jacket dress set circa 1880s. The sheen from this velvet is spellbinding (the modeled photos appear slightly more reddish brown than in reality!) She's styled with a standing collar neckline, long sleeves and a flattering fitted and seamed V'd hem bodice jacket (the backside has a split V hem) that closes down the front with gorgeous copper shank buttons featuring an ornamental steel cut design. A tiny pocket graces the left side with a lace pocket square. The bodice is lined in glazed cotton and is boned at the interior seams. There is a small interior right side waist placket with 5 eyes, however, the corresponding left side has torn and is not selvedgable for use (see 9th collage).

The floor length skirt is heavy with front and back gathers and draping. There's a partially attached gathered back panel that hooks onto both sides of the center back grosgrain waistband creating a gathered 'poof' at the upper back. The grosgrain waistband has one large hook/eye at center back (believe this is a replacement waistband and the hook/eye is a heavy duty modern replacement). The skirt is lined with glazed cotton muslin and there's an additional buckram type of lining along the interior hem.

Some wear to velvet - most notable L&R shoulder, collar and surrounding closures. Back skirt 'poof' panel has velvet pocking. Interior cotton lining has some rips.
