Antique 1900s Edwardian Walking Suit, Striped Blue Gibson Girl Dress Set Bodice & Edwardian Skirt, Leg of Mutton Sleeves

Fantastic early 1900s white striped dark blue wool walking suit trimmed in velvet and floral lace with a cool denim-like appearance! This two piece antique Victorian Edwardian dress set has the iconic Gibson Girl pouched front bodice with nipped waist and sweeping pleated floor length skirt.

The bodice is styled with a short collar and butterfly lace trimmed yoke. The yoke and split center bodice sections are trimmed in velvet with non-functional buttons and velvet bow accents. The gathered leg of mutton sleeves showcase pleating towards the hems and are also trimmed with horizontal bands of velvet and buttons. The backside is styled with triple vertical tuck pleats that extend to the waist. The bodice is fully lined in the same cotton muslin that extends from the nipped waistline. Hook/eye closures down the center of the lining and snaps up the outer left side bodice connecting the wool to lace yoke.

The floor length skirt closes at the center back with two hook & eyes. It has wonderful pleating and arrow pointed velvet tabs with non-functional button accents lay across the pleated sections. Sweeping hem and slightly elongated backside. The inner waistband has a silk petersham lining (replacement) with snaps along the backside that close onto the bodice.

A fabulous ensemble from the early 1900s! A cotton petticoat was worn underneath the skirt for the photos - not included in sale.
