1900s Edwardian Blue Sage Gown, 4pc Antique Trained Skirt, Removable Sleeve Bodice Jacket & Metallic Net Lace Blouse, Historical Dress

Breathtaking 4pc late Victorian or early Edwardian silk taffeta gown in the prettiest shade of greenish gray blue! I believe this dress to be somewhere between circa 1898 - 1904. This gown has had some revisions and complimentary additions along the way which is detailed below.

The bodice jacket is absolutely charming styled with inserts of cream hued lace ribbon that trims the front and back shoulders, neckline and down front sides. Two fabric bows accent the upper bust at each side of center bodice closure. Very stylish pleating throughout with complimentary cream hued stitches. A partially attached cummerbund enhances the waistline with pleating, ruching and faux fabric button accents which closes at center front with 3 sets of hook/eyes. The gathered sleeves are outstanding with double tiers trimmed in flirty gathered pleats! Also, this jacket is transitional from day to evening due to the removable tapered hems which hook into place at the underside of the last sleeve tier. She closes with a hook/eye at center front waistband followed by another hook/eye and hook/loop near fabric bows. Three hooks at interior back waist closure onto eyes on the skirt. Modern stitched padding has been added to the interior shoulder areas which actually helps stabilize and protect the silk taffeta from wear.

The fitted cap sleeve net lace blouse is not original to this set, however, I believe the body of the blouse is from the 1930s with antique additions. It is styled with an antique high collar neckline of silk taffeta featuring lovely feather stitching, followed by antique lace that overlays cream hued silk. The collar closes at center back with three modern hook/eyes. The silk lining the interior collar has wear. The body of the blouse is made of cream net overlaid with gorgeous metallic silver spiderweb lace with metallic trimmed grayish blue centers. Four seams for a fitted silhouette, the back closes with 6 snaps. (The back closure area has been altered - the fully intact original top wings are now stitched down to the underside). A hook closure has been added to the interior front waistband to hook onto the front skirt eye.

The floor length skirt with back train is styled with flattering pleating, faux fabric 'buttons' and pleated wavy trim encircling the hem. I adore the prominent kick pleats at the front hem. The waistband is lined in silk petersham and there is synthetic horsehair trim approx. 1/4’’ in width that encircles just below the waistband. Two hook/eye closures (1 additional to get 1/2" more room at waist) at center back with two hook/eyes down top back portion of skirt. The outer waistband has two back and one front eye that closes onto the blouse and bodice jacket.

A truly gorgeous ensemble - for wear (after a little TLC), display and/or study!

Blouse: alteration mentioned. 1 darn to cap sleeve. Wear to collar lining.
Bodice Jacket: Underarm staining. 1 1/4” horizontal tear extending out from right underarm/sleeve seam. A handful of minor holes.
