1890s 1900s Victorian Purple Satin & Beaded Velvet Dress, 2pc Antique Victorian Skirt and Bodice Set

Antique late 1890s early 1900s deep purple silk satin damask 2pc Victorian dress in amazing condition trimmed in velvet, jet black beadwork, net and satin. The silk damask is luxurious with a stunning wavy scalloped tendril design.

Her bodice is styled with a high neckline of satin, gathered black net and purple velvet and a wide ruffled purple velvet collar trimmed in jet black beaded appliqué and more of the gathered net. Pleats of beige silk extend down the front to the waistband. Her long gathered leg of mutton sleeves are trimmed in jet black beaded appliqué, black net and cream silk. The back has flattering side pleats and a slightly elongated back waist. A velvet band trims the waistline with a center half bow design which snaps into place. The interior is fully lined in black silk taffeta and is boned at every seam. Interior taffeta has hook/eye closures down the center bodice. Cream satin is overtop the center taffeta portion followed by the sheer pleated beige silk. The beige silk has two clasp hooks and fabric eye closures. The collar hooks and snaps into place along the neckline with three hook/loops at nape. Three hooks are placed near the interior back hem to close onto the skirt. There is also an interior waistband with two hook/eyes closures. New fabric has been used to stabilize and join the old waistband together due to wear and one side of the original interior waistband had been cut.

The sweeping floor length skirt has a striking elongated backside that falls in pleats. The grosgrain waistband has two hook/eye closures and there are three eyes at back waistband to close onto the bodice hooks. The skirt is fully lined in silk taffeta and the front hem is hand picked under. Black elastic runs across the interior back pleated section.

Bodice: Interior silk taffeta lining has some tearing and wear. Tearing to satin trim at back collar. Minor wear area to cotton velvet. Pleated beige silk appears to be a newer replacement.

Skirt: Silk taffeta lining has some wear / minor cuts. Some wear to hem edges.
