1870s 1880s Victorian Pinstriped Bustle Dress, Antique Black Beige Striped Walking Dress, Medium

Amazing antique Victorian black and beige pinstriped bustle dress believed to be circa late 1870s or early 1880s with a more natural form styled bustle. She's made of a left hand twilled diagonal ribbed fabric with an outer silky cotton and inner cotton feel - likely cotton gabardine. Panels of brown velvet trims the bodice jacket and skirt along with scalloped embroidered needlerun net lace. The bodice jacket is styled with a split velvet collar neckline and closes down the center front with 19 mother of pearl shank buttons with faceted steel cut beads. The jacket ends in an elongated pointed V front and the backside extends into a fabulous cascading box pleat. A small velvet pocket accents the front left side bodice. The bodice jacket is fully lined and there is no interior boning.

The pleated floor skirt is designed with two front vertical velvet panels and an elongated backside with gathered folds creating a lovely cascading silhouette. The skirt is fully lined with a brown glazed cotton under skirt with a pinstriped gabardine and pleated hem protector. She closes on the back with 2 hooks and 2 eye closures (1 set is a replacement).

Underarm staining. Some stains to striped fabric - most notable shown (last collage bottom right showing close-up of stains shown on bottom middle pic). A couple minor tears to skirt. 1 small tear to velvet near shank button closure. Minor wear to velvet.
