1890s Embellished Victorian Dress, Antique 19th Century Green Silk Victorian Walking Dress with Gold Beading and Pastel Sequins

$300.00

Gorgeous antique mid 1890s Victorian 2pc green silk dress featuring gold beaded and pastel sequined metallic bullion appliqué trim work! The bodice is styled with an embellished layered 'choker necklace' collar, gathered yoke with two rows of the embellished ornamentation, cross-over design with a fabric bow accent that hooks into place at the waistline, long sleeves with embellished hems and gathered puffed epaulet attachments at the shoulders and fantastic seam-work throughout. The bodice is boned at each seam (with exception of two back princess seams) and lined in brown cotton. It has center hook and eye closures extending from the cotton lining all the way up the silk. There are two hooks located at the bottom of the two back princess seams that would have been used to connect the bodice to the skirt.

Floor length skirt with gathers that accumulate more on the right side of center opening. The waistband has two eye placements for the hook to accommodate an additional 1 1/2". There are also two eyes positioned vertically in order to connect to the inner bodice hooks. There is an additional eye located on waistband, however, I'm unsure what it would have attached to. I've left it where it is. The skirt is fully lined with glazed cotton and also has a velveteen hem protector.

A gorgeous piece of historical textile art for a collector or to wear with care.
